On Friday, President Bola Tinubu, alongside millions of Nigerians, remembered Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, the former governor of Ondo State. Tinubu lauded him as a “fearless soldier” and an “unwavering advocate” for his people.
At St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Imola Street, Owo, Ondo State, the president, in the person of Vice President Kashim Shettima, paid tribute to Akeredolu’s “indomitable legacy of national service” during an eulogy that was both sorrowful and uplifting.
“We have come together to say goodbye to a remarkable person, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON,” the president said, pondering the fleeting nature of existence and the long-lasting consequences of our decisions.
He praised Akeredolu for his bravery, commitment, and steadfastness in his role as “a fearless soldier for his people.”
As we come together here today, we must face an unavoidable reality and bid farewell to a fearless soldier, just as the seasons change the path of our lives, so too will each of us follow the tides one after the other.
As we traverse this fleeting journey through life, let it be a reminder that we are mere whispers in the wind. The president declared this occasion the ultimate validation of the honorable roads our beloved brother walked.
