IGA aka the Igbo General Assembly, including the Igbo diaspora, has voiced its support for President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing security issues in the nation’s southeast.
The group, led by Secretary Hon. E. C. Onugha and President Ozo Kingsley Ndibe, expressed deep concern over the insecurity wreaking havoc in the five Southeast states. The group also urged the president to address the issue before the region’s economy collapses.
The group asserts that, in the past, the area attracted foreign investors who traveled there to make investments. However, due to the deteriorating security situation in the South East, investors are now afraid to journey back home. They claimed that this has made it challenging to find jobs for young people without jobs.
The IGA further mentioned that due to security concerns, their fathers can no longer visit their businesses, and their mothers are unable to return to their farms. They bemoaned the inability of the previous government to address the issues of insecurity in the area.
The group declared that there have been frequent killings, kidnappings, and bloodletting. Our fathers are now unable to go out and conduct business, and our mothers are unable to return to the farm.
